Buhari seeks Senate confirmation of Adamu, Ahmad as CBN deputy governors

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday sought the Senate to confirm the nomination of Edward Adamu and Mrs Aisha Ndanusa Ahmad, as Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for the second and last time in office, respectively..

Buhari, in a letter read during plenary by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, said the request was in line with the provisions of Section 8(1) (2) of the CBN (Establishment) Act 2007.

According to the letter, their nominations are for Adamu, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has spent 25 years in the apex bank. He was first appointed CBN Deputy Governor in 2018. He began his career with the Unified Public Service (UPS) in 1983.

On her part, Ahmad was first appointed CBN Deputy Governor in charge of Financial System Stability, in 2018. She was the Executive Director of Retail Banking at Diamond Bank PLC, and has 22 years of experience as a corporate executive and finance expert.

In another letter, President Buhari also asked the Upper Chamber to confirm the appointment of Ambassador Ayuba Jacob, as a member of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
