UNIBEN students rescued from collapsed building stable in hospital: Management

The Management of the University of Benin, Edo State, has said the three students of the institution rescued from a collapsed storey building at Ekosodin neighbouring community were in stable condition in a hospital.

The management disclosed this in a statement, on Saturday in Benin City.

Recall that a building where students resided, collapsed on Saturday, following the downpour which began on Friday.

A witness account revealed that no life was lost but several students were injured.

The statement said the rescue team, comprising staff of the security and fire service departments, the health centre, students as well as the police succeeded in rescuing the students.

It stated that the rescued students were first taken to the institution’s health centre before two of them were later taken to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.

The statement indicated that the management wished the affected students’ speedy recovery and commended the rescue team for their gallantry. (NAN)
