Ossiomo Power accuses NGMC of forceful shut down of facility

Ossiomo Power Plant

Ossiomo Power Company has reported a forceful shut down of its gas facility by the Nigeria Gas Marketing Company (NGMC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd.

A statement signed by Adeyinka Ladejobi on behalf of the company said the situation has been escalated to the right quarters to resolve the matter.

According to him, “We apologize for this unannounced outage. This outage is as a result of a forceful shut down of our gas plant by NGMC without any notice.

“The situation has been escalated accordingly, and we shall keep you posted.”

Recall that in January, Ossiomo Power inaugurated a new 40MW Independent Power Plant (IPP) in Benin City, dedicated to providing power to the Benin Industrial and Enterprise Park and local communities in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

In conjunction with the Edo State Government, the power plant was providing 24/7 power to Ologbo and Obayantor communities in the area.

The plant is an addition to the existing 55MW plant, operating in the state since 2020, supplying power to government buildings, offices and streetlights, which stretches for 200km across the Benin metropolis.

We apologize for this unannounced outage. This outage is as a result of a forceful shut down of our gas plant by NGMC without any notice.
