NCC says MTN’s UAS license not yet to renewed

Amid contrary reports, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has again clarified that it is yet to approve the renewal of MTN Nigeria’s unified Access and Service License (UASL).

In a statement issued for the guidance of the general stakeholders, the Commission said: “while MTN Nigeria has applied for the renewal of the Unified Access and Service (UASL) License granted to it by the Commission, the application is yet to be approved, as it is still undergoing required regulatory processes.”

It is unclear why such reports are being promoted; the NNC has also issued a similar clarification last month of Airtel Nigeria.

While MTN washes its hand clean from the online report which claimed the UAS licence had been renewed for another 10, Airtel had insisted its outgoing Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Segun Olusanya, had been misquoted in a comment credited to him at a function.
