National Security: NIGCOMSAT, MOMAS-EPAIL partner on communication infrastructure

The Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd. (NIGCOMSAT), MOMAS Equipment and Protective Applications International Ltd. (EPAIL), have partnered to enhance communication infrastructure in Nigeria’s defense sector and boost national security.

Speaking at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Saturday, NIGCOMSAT’s Managing Director, Mrs Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, commended MOMAS-EPAIL’s investment in developing local content in power, defense and other sectors.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event, held at the MOMAS-EPAIL factory in Mowe, Ogun, was attended by key personalities from both companies.

Ms. Egerton-Idehen also commended MOMAS-EPAIL for its innovative contributions to national security and encouraged other indigenous companies to collaborate with NIGCOMSAT to advance the country through effective server communication networks.

According to her, security is paramount to Nigeria at this moment.

Ms. Egerton-Idehen said, “Today is historic because it’s the signing of a strategic partnership between NIGCOMSAT and MOMAS-EPAIL.

“Many may not know that MOMAS-EPAIL is involved in the manufacturing of defense materials for security, and NIGCOMSAT is Nigeria’s premier satellite communication company.

“Collaborating in this way adds significant value to our Defense sector.”

She also said that NIGCOMSAT was committed to serving Nigeria through indigenous companies.

Ms. Egerton-Idehen emphasised the importance of protecting, creating value, and embracing innovation in the defense sector.

All vital information has to be embedded in the agreement so that information critical to Nigeria’s security can be safeguarded and domesticated. This will further enhance our services and effectiveness towards service delivery in the Defense sector.

In his remarks, Mr Kola Balogun, the Chairman of MOMAS-EPAIL, said the partnership with NIGCOMSAT would build an effective database and improve data collection for national security.

He said that the firm had developed a robust knowledge-based information system to protect the security network and had grown remarkably in providing armoured vehicles and other operational materials.

Balogun noted that building synergy with NIGCOMSAT would enhance group communication infrastructure and frontline operations.

He said the MoU would serve as a tool for exchanging information in security, intelligence and communication with a focus on classified information.

“All vital information has to be embedded in the agreement so that information critical to Nigeria’s security can be safeguarded and domesticated.

“This will further enhance our services and effectiveness towards service delivery in the Defense sector,” Balogun said.

EPAIL, a member of the MOMAS group of companies, aims to advance local technology research and development to provide effective security solutions for safeguarding lives and properties.

The company has established Nigeria’s first manufacturing facility dedicated to producing bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets, and other defense-related equipment.

EPAIL’s collaboration with the Defense Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) further strengthens its commitment to meeting significant security requirements in the defense industry.

As an indigenous company, EPAIL hosts a dedicated Research and Development team focused on continuous innovation in security solutions.

The company has conducted risk assessments and delivered solutions for critical infrastructure across Nigeria.

MOMAS-EPAIL provides protection to clients by leveraging technology and driving indigenous innovations and development in the defense and security industry. (NAN)
