CHELE completes, hands-over $1.5bn Lekki deep seaport

The construction of the $1.5 billion Lekki Deep Seaport by China Harbour Engineering LFTZ Enterprise (CHELE), has been completed and handed over to Tolaram Group, the developer of the port.

Speaking on Monday, at the handover ceremony to the developer in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said the facility is one of the most modern deep seaports in the world.

Sanwo-Olu, also approved the construction of six lanes along the port corridors, to ease cargo evacuation.

Also, the Chairman, Board of Directors, Lekki Port, Biodun Dabiri, said the port will create over 170,000 direct and indirect jobs for Nigerians.

“When the presidential commissioning takes place, and the port becomes fully operational, there is no doubt that Lekki Deep Sea Port will contribute immensely to the growth of the Nigerian economy.

“It will create about 170,000 direct and indirect jobs, generate approximately $361 billion during the period of the concession, and generate over $201 billion in revenue for both Lagos State and the Federal Government of Nigeria,” he said.

…when the port becomes fully operational, there is no doubt that Lekki Deep Sea Port will contribute immensely to the growth of the Nigerian economy.
