The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has approved four indigenous firms for printing cheques in the country, a circular issued by the apex bank over the weekend.
The CBN however, excluding the Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC) PLC, the sole printer of the N200, N500, N1000 new naira notes.
The circular, signed by the Director, Banking Services Department, Sam Okojere, reads: “In furtherance of its mandate to ensure an efficient Payment and Settlement System, the Central Bank of Nigeria, in collaboration with the MICR Technical Implementation Committee, conducted the re-accreditation of Cheques Printers and Cheque Personalisers in line with the NICPAS qualification criteria.
“As of May 4, 2023, the Cheque Printers and Personalisers with valid accreditation licence are as follows: Superflux International Limited; Tripple Gee and Company; Yaliam Press Limited; and Marvelous Mike Press.
The circular also showed that seven banks were approved as Cheque Personalisers, which include Zenith Bank Plc; Ecobank Plc; First Bank Ltd; Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc; Keystone Bank Ltd; Providus Bank Ltd; and Wema Bank Plc.
It added that all accredited printers and personalisers have been duly notified and certificates issued.
