The Management of Realnews Magazine and Publications Limited, publishers of Realnews Magazine Online, has announced, “Drug Abuse among Youths in Africa: Implication for Nigerian Economy and 2023 Elections,” as the topic for its 10th Anniversary Lecture scheduled for November 17th.
In a statement, the Publisher/Editor, Maureen Chigbo, said: “This year’s lecture series will be delivered by a renowned national and international security expert, who is a force to reckon with in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.”
She added that “A member of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Drug Abuse and other experts in the field will feature as panellists.”
The statement also revealed that the event will be chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of one of the foremost financial institutions in the country, whose identity “will be announced in due course.”
“Realnews Anniversary Lecture Series was established to commemorate the best minds in our society and to tap from them to enrich the discourse in our national development.
“The 9th Anniversary Lecture of Realnews in 2021 was delivered by Simbi Kesiye Wabote, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board on “Nigeria in the Unfolding Integration of the African Market: The Oil and Gas Perspective,” Chigbo said.

Past anniversary lectures were delivered high ranking Nigerian and international officials including, by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha; Former President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana; and Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
Others were former minister of Education and former World Bank Vice President, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili; former United Nations Secretary General’s Special Representative to West Africa and Sahel, Dr Mohamed Ibn Chambas; Anambra State Governor and former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo; and former Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Maurice Iwu.
