Dr Asheikh Maidugu, is a Development Economist and a Director, Digital Support Group at the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS). He obtained a BSc in Economics from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State, in 1991, and a Masters’ degree in Money, Trade and Finance in 1998. He proceeded to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto State, from where he obtained a PhD in Development Economics in 2004. Dr Asheikh started his working career with the Yobe State Scholarship Board as an Internal Auditor, and resigned to join the University of Maiduguri, where he lectured for 13 years in the Department of Economics and rose to the position of Senior Lecturer. In 2007, he joined the Debt Management Office (DMO), and in 2010 moved on to the FIRS, where he has held several posts. He had also served as a Special Adviser to the Honourable Minister of State for Finance, on secondment from 2011 to 2014.
Dr. Asheikh is a member of Nigeria Economic Society (NES), A Fellow of Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), and a member of National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, Senior Executive Course 40, 2018. He has attended several courses and workshops both local and international including, the Royal Institute of Public Administration, London, United Kingdom, and the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School, Boston, USA. He is also an author and publisher of articles in local and international Journals.
