The Director-General, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) Mamman Ahmadu, has stressed the quality of governance in all services for a sustainable development, as this is the best way to appreciate governance.
The DG said this when he had in audience, a procurement delegation from the Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau of Abia State, who were on a study tour to BPP.
According to the Bureau’s statement, Mr. Ahmadu advised Nigerians to proffer solutions to issues as every problem has a solution, noting that peer review mechanism is always the best form of getting understanding and resolving issues.
He appreciated the coming of the Abia team, saying their visit will enable them to acquire more knowledge on procurement matters, and urged them to re-strategize and address weaknesses.
“We should determine to change things for greater achievements and not depend on small successes.
“E-Procurement addresses human lapses and brings greater success in the procurement sector, as quality takes the lead in all services.
We will go through your procurement law document, make observations and guide you appropriately.”
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Director of Finance in the Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, Mrs. Ijeoma Chukwuma, said, their visit was to get acquainted with the E-Procurement process as applied at Federal level to enable them to apply it in the state.
She said, the Abia State Due Process Office is ready to learn and to overcome current challenges and sought the BPP’s collaboration to enable the state to succeed.
The Deputy Director, Procurement, Due Process Office, Abia State, Mr. Okwara highlighted on the procurement activities and challenges in the state.
The Director Finance, along the Deputy Director procurement, presented the Abia State Procurement Law document to the DG, BPP, while the DG, also presented copies of the 2007 Procurement Act (PPA, 2007), and other documents to the visitors.
